The Moai Statues

The Moai Statues are human figures carved from rock. They were built between the years 1250 and 1500. The Moai Statues are located in the Easter Island which is located in the Pacific Ocean in part of Chile of South America. Easter Island is an equilateral triangular shape, with extinct volcanic cones in each of its three corners. There are more than 600 Moai Statues, some are up to 9 metres in height and weighing up to 250 tones. Almost all Moai have large heads three fifths the size of their bodies. The indigenous polynesians built the Moai Statues to scare the evil spirits away from the villagers. Today it stills a mystery how the Moai Statues were moved to Easter Island.
