The Neuschwanstein Castle is located in the Bavarian Alps of Germany. This Castle covers
almost 8,500 square feet, according to World Travel, and the total floor space is almost
about 213 feet. The Castle was built in the style of the late romanesque period of the
King Ludwig II,
between 1869 and 1886.
The Neuschwanstein Castle has 90 rooms but only 14 rooms were finished before Ludwig's death.
Ludwig acted as a patron to German composer Richard Wagner, and was inspired by a performance
of Wagner's operas in 1867. Devastated over a failed engagement, Ludwig became absorbed
in plans for a magnificient retreat. The structure served as the inspiration for Disneyland's
Sleeping Beauty Castle.
The Neuschwanstein Castle, is one of the most popular destinations in Europe.
